Cathy Montie, Owner & Operator

Cathy is the owner of Absolute Tattoo, Piercing, Permanent Cosmetics and Henna located in San Diego, CA. "Absolute Tattoo" is the eighth body art business Cathy has opened in her 30-year career in the field of body art.

She recieved her California Cosmetology License in 1994, and has held a license to perform tattooing in Hawaii since 1996.

Cathy became a body art representative to the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health in 1997 and has participated in several of the County's industry outreach activities. She currently provides technical expertise as a member of the Department's Body Art Oridinance Committee and is an OSHA Authorized Community Outreach Instructor.

Cathy is a member of the National Tattoo Association, a former trainer member of the Society of Permanent Cosmetics Professionals, and is one of the founding members of the California Alliance for the Promotion of Safe Body Art (CAPSBA).

Cathy's most recent endeavor is the Cathy Montie Body Art Training Company which provides safety and technical training to body art professionals. She also offers web-based online classes as well as classroom training. Here, you can find resources to download, best work practice recommendations, practice tests, and articles of interest to the body art community. New content is being added all the time.

Most importantly, Cathy offers twooptions for developing an industry-specific Exposure Control and Infection Prevention Plan to satisfy requirements for the body art industry; a blank template you build yourself or a custom Plan designed specifically for the individual shop.
